how cute! LOLOL!
the marine and I used to always watch them on Saturday mornings.
I remember one cartoon where some guys were thrown in jail.
one of them says “a good lawyer will get me out of this!”
and in one of the jail cells some skeletons say in unison…
“don’t get the one We did!”
later I always loved the Road Runner cartoons!
Not so much at home, but I loved getting to the movies early to watch the cartoons — Felix the Cat was a favorite. (And I still recall the lyrics — how sad is that?!)
I don’t remember it, but my former husband was fond of saying, “Call the Movietone News!”
Yes, I loved cartoons on Saturday morning. Remember, they were not on all the time way back then…LOL There was a half hour of them when I got home from school, and then had Saturday morns.
When Lorelei came along, I got to enjoy some of the old ones all over again. Tom & Jerry specially. I still like them.
Then by having her, I got to see new things. Some really good, some I always said I could sketch as good and that is saying something! But I love Pixar Shorts. And any time I hear a Minion I smile. There is a lego Minion, and if I was not trying to reduce clutter, I would get it for myself.
I’m not sure that Kaitlin even had a chance to watch them on TV. Mostly she could watch Sesame Street and The Electric Company, I think, and read books. I wasn’t that aware of cartoons on TV.
Every Saturday morning my parents would drop off my brothers and me at the movie theater while they went to the grocery store. There were cartoons and a serial–usually a cowboy movie. In my mind I can still see Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and Gene Autry. Then there was a drawing for prizes so you had to keep track of your ticket. One time my cousins went with us and my 3-year old cousin won a yo-yo: so not fair! 🙂
TV was not on my radar as a child – but I went to the afternoon matinee at the local picture theatre where I guess we watched cartoons but I can only remember cowboys and Indians type films….1/2 chocolate dipped ice cream cones and little paper bags of sweeties…sometimes Mum gave me enough money for a cardboard box of Jaffas!
LOL!!!

I sure did. There was nothing quite like sitting down to Saturday morning cartoons.
🙂
Oh yes. Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, the Roadrunner, all of the usual suspects.
🙂
I really liked Tom & Jerry, and Alvin & The Chipmunks. I remember watching cartoons in the movie theater, plus the newsreels.
🙂
I only saw them at the theater, when we went to saturday am childrens movies. we had not TV until I was 15
We didn’t get a TV until I was around 13. I never watched cartoons on TV, just in the movies.

For me it was The March of Time! for the newsreels. 🙂

I’ve never enjoy cartoons both on TV or in the newspaper. I love the cats watching Tom and Jerry. My dog used to like watching dogs on TV.
🙂

My sister and I were Roy Rogers fans. 🙂

I have a warm spot in my heart for movie theaters. 🙂
oops “at 1/2 time…”
I also remember getting candy during half time.
