Update Now?

This was one of the questions on that creative personality quiz. How did/would you answer it? I said remind me tomorrow because in my experience you don’t update unless you’re willing to spend a lot of time on problems.

I’ve recently bought a new Garmin tracker for Andy just in case his old one stopped working after 4 1/2 years. It has a glitch so I’ve spent quite a few hours with their tech support the past week or so. An exercise in patience.

  1. I usually hit “restart now” unless of course there is really is “remind me tomorrow” – as I will then forget to do whatever. The same when an invoice comes in, even if like the water bill there is a few weeks grace… What often happens if the emails fall below my viewing line. And that awkward email comes “did you forget…” 🙂

I agree, you have to wait till you have a lot of time.

Depend on the time of day I read the choices. I can be hesitant to initiate an installation in the evening lest issues come up that prolong the activity when I’m more short on patience. Remind me tomorrow then would be my choice, otherwise I like to start the installation and get it over with.

Little updates are no problem, but Apple wants me to upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey. The switch from Catalina made logging in a lot slower so I’m dragging my feet.

I’m a “remind me later” kind of person. I came to my computer this morning though and it was in the middle of doing updates. Not a good thing to do to a person who hasn’t had her coffee yet.

I would definitely say remind me later.

I am a do it now and get it over with person. with everything. I can’t stand to wait to do anything, when I used to take trips to Savannah, the suitcase was packed 3 days before, with only a few things to be added the morning of. the only time I don’t click restart now, is if in PicMonkey creating, I finish what I am on and do the shut down. if it is eveing I always do the shutdown now…

if this is on the phone, I get really upset and think I don’t want this update and i rant and rave about phone updates. i have never had one that did not cause something to go wrong. the desktop and laptop do ok MOST of the time. I forgot to say i had to ask GG what the tracker is. I thought you had a tracker like to tell where he is at all times. a fitness tracker watch?

Which answer I would choose depends on what else I am doing. I like to do updates when I’m heading off for a meal so it doesn’t feel so much like waiting around but I will be coming back to check on it. What I hate is when I walk away only to come back later to find one more box they wanted checked before doing the install.

  9. I chose the same response — only because I tend to resist change until it’s thrust on me.

I figure the universe is conspiring to keep us old folks on our toes. It’s always throwing changes at us that we have to deal with. 😀

  10. Good luck with this project.
