I asked Andy to take some closeups of our conifers. He took six samples of our about 20 trees.
He’s watering, by hand, the ones that look like they might survive. The irrigation system melted and will have to be replaced.
An ongoing story.

There is always something to challenge us….
Yes, we’ve had almost 46 years of experience up there. It’s always something. 🙂
I hope ALL will survive.
Thanks.
pioneers of the spirit! and Andy is one of them for sure. XO
Yes. 🙂
Considering everything that has been going on, they look really healthy!
I agree about most of them. 🙂
another day in the “office” for Andy and now the challenge of a new watering system, which I’m sure he will be tinkering with some more …
He’s already ordered the black plastic tubing.
I am doing the same thing here, saving the plants/bushes I can by hand watering. not due to fire, but drought. I have even started using tea/coffee that is left over to water plants. I am thinking of a container to pour left over hot water in after the tea kettle is used. and I just now thought about when I dump the water in Beaus bowl, because it has food in it, i can use that too. I might even do the dishes in a container and not the sink… soapy water is good for plants.. we already don’t flush our commodes as much as we did. i see our neighbors using precious water to keep their grass green but it doesn’t help because everyone else has sand and weeds. bob is not mowing weeds because the mower gets caught in sand and throw is all around. sorry for the going on… I love your trees and hope they live
Thank you for sharing your experience. Drought is nasty stuff. 🙁
Too bad about the irrigation system. Those conifers are looking pretty good though
Andy is sure some will die, but I agree, some of them look fine.
There’s sure a difference between these samplings. Cross fingers they all survive!
Some will no doubt die, but others look all right.
Those last couple look good. Hope they all make it and you get rain soon.
It will probably be a while before we get rain. Usually July is the start of the rainy season, but that doesn’t mean we will get a lot this year.
I hope the ones left all survive. We’ve been having drought conditions here in Minnesota. We didn’t have as much snow to melt this year as in years past but the ponds in the nature preserve are full so I have hope for this summer. I wish the new neighbors would quit fertilizing, though, since our ponds are turning green.
Sorry about the fertilizer, that’s a shame on top of the drought. 🙁
