Well Look At That!

At first I couldn’t lift my side that high, and I reminded Andy he had said he couldn’t do it that morning. He smiled and said he had cheated. He practiced a few times before he drove up to the land. Anyway, we can empty the garbage for a while more at least. All’s good with the world.

Since then I’ve done it a couple of times, but I don’t feel comfortable that I won’t drop the lid and smash my hand. We’re both being very careful, and I’m starting to do a bit more weight lifting to strengthen my wrists and forearms.

    LOL!
I love the end of the video where Andy said Smile?!
    xo

  2. I have the same problem with a few doors around here.

  3. The OP Pack says:

That opening isn’t very big so I guess you will have to use smaller trash bags. And having to hoist a bag UP can’t be very convenient. Too bad there isn’t some sort of chute or side door. Oh well, hope it works out OK.

    • Jean says:

No, the opening is plenty big and once the lid is open it’s easy to toss trash bags in. The dumpster it replaced had light lids, but you had to hold them up with one hand while you tossed the bag in with the other. And the lids were higher, I had trouble doing it.

Looks like the door is heavy and would shut very tight!

  5. Ann Thompson says:

    Yeah, it’s open.
I had to laugh at Andy’s response to you telling him to smile.

Yikes, and that is a long way up to lift a bag of garbage. I watched the video twice and smiled at the end as told. ha ha… I have an idea. find someing storn with a hook on it, like a heavy rope with a knot, a cane would do, hook the handle and pull back on it or pry with it. something other than the hand to pull it up. Pry bar, tug it with something. that will not help with putting it up and over in that tiny hole though. you will both become muscle bound and beautiful. it looks like it could break fingers/hands if falls on it.. the bears will probably be abled to figure it out.

    • Jean says:

I think the bears would have trouble…that part is well designed. I’m working on strengthening the muscles I need. I don’t want to smash my fingers/hand. 😀

  7. Yay Andy!
As a little girl (when we lived in the Chapels) my friends and I would climb inside the dempster dumpster searching for empty pop bottles to redeem for pennies.
No-one was overly concerned or even considered the possibility of bears!

    • Jean says:

We have a lot more bears now. It’s not unusual for the local newspaper to have pictures of them sauntering around residential areas. Urban expansion and the drought make a big difference.

  8. Hootin Anni says:

After open; a chain or a cable of some sort to latch to the pole?!! Andy made it look easy!!

    • Jean says:

Once it’s open it stays open until you shut it again, that’s a big plus. Andy couldn’t do it if he had to hold it with one hand and put the garbage in with the other. That’s why he thought at first we both might have to do it.

  9. That’s good news. It looks heavy!
