Even though the Del Norte Road is more bumpy, it’s shorter and it’s the way we drove in for decades. It brings back a lot of warm memories. Part of the charm of going that way is we drive by the Valle Grande, the biggest valley in the Valles Caldera National Preserve. Click on the picture if you would like to see a short video clip of what we see.

looks wonderful – I was thinking maybe that’s where the buffalo range…
Mostly elk and cattle. The bison were more down in the plains.
It is a Grand Valley, oh so beautiful and a much smoother ride. I can envision herds of all kinds out on that green valley, from horses and elks to bison or cows
The elk love it there and in the past humans raised cattle.
I can see why you woukd drive that way..I would be looking for reasons to see that view!
🙂 Kaitlin and Torben are coming next week and will take that route.
I can understand why the two of you choose to go this way…incredibly serene.
Yes. 🙂
It is gorgeous!
Yes. 🙂
A bumpy ride would be worth it for that amazing scenery.
Yes. 🙂
There’s little likelihood I’ll ever see this again. I sure appreciate you sharing these images!
