Not So Cozy a Day

Tuesday wasn’t as nice for Andy. Between the county and Adam the road was plowed to about a quarter of a mile from the house. Andy had chains on the Jeep so he tried driving the rest of the way but got stuck in the big drift the wind forms by the greenhouse. He used the truck to tow the Jeep the rest of the way to the clearing, then he plowed.

He started for home in the Jeep about 3:20, but it kept overheating. He didn’t stop until he reached the highway, then he parked the Jeep where a tow truck could get it. As luck would have it a car came out at the same time, and they gave him a ride down here to our auto mechanic. He said he would phone a tow company to bring the Jeep down in the morning.

Andy had left his things in the Jeep so took the 4Runner back up to get his things and lock Jeep. That took another hour, but then he was home safe for the evening.

Unfortunately, he forgot to put the saw in the 4Runner, he never drives up without one because of fallen trees, and he couldn’t get it yesterday until the Jeep had been towed down here and checked in. By the time he got the saw it was too late to make much sense to go up to the land.

It turns out the Jeep had a broken hose that leaked all the water in the cooling system. The replacement part is supposed to get here Friday, so hopefully Andy will have the Jeep back by the weekend or next week. As usual, never a dull moment.

  1. oh no…well at least it can be fixed and relatively quickly…but also not a lot of damage done in overheating mode.

Any vehicle is bound to breakdown sometime. And it’s no fun.

oh my word!!!! so glad the car came along to give him a ride and that it will get towed and repaired, what a day!!!! talk about snow adventures… hope the saw is safe inside and not out in the snow…. that is a LOT of snow in the photos…happy Andy is safe and sound at home with you and no harm done to him or the car.. a hose is an easy fix when it fianlly gets to the mechanic

  4. Thank goodness Andy got out to the road while it was still daylight and other motorist came along when he did!
I’m sure he had a Plan B up his sleeve, but the idea of him having spend the night up there alone in the snow sounds unnerving!

Oh my gOSH! I cannot imagine how exhausted he must have been! I’m glad it all worked out in the end.
