Extended Expiration Dates

Our four free Covid tests from the government came, and I decided to test them because I’ve been fighting mild cold symptoms for quite a while now. They said to take two tests, between 24 and 48 hours apart. As expected, the results were negative, but it meant we only had two tests left. Andy bought two more to have as backups, but the expiration date said February 22. That wasn’t as useful as we had hoped. Then I remembered something about extended expiration dates, and sure enough this site let us check. The tests will be good until next November. Again, what a blessing the internet is!

you know i love the internet and live by it. that said, we have become ultra dependent on it. to the point we are forgetting how to live without it. as in when we had no internet, i pulled out the five year old phone book, they don’t send them anymore and had forgotten how to use it. i did figure it out but had to stop and think, i wanted something in the yellow pages. and the phone book can’t give me directions to where something is. they have closed all of our banks but 2 in our county, the one we use, and now if all of a sudden the internet is gone, they could not handle the business, even if we wanted to use cash, you have to have a place to get the cash and our life supply of SS checks comes by direct deposit, if they had to issue that many checks and we had to cash them utter chaos would fall on us.

Yes, it could be a mess! Often when we phone customer service they suggest going to their website. Not helpful when the internet is down.

I find oftentimes, internet can be fickle. One site tells “it’s good” while a 2nd site is opposite. I don’t live by internet

  3. Yes! I find it hard to remember whatever means I turned to before the internet.

Yes, I just found out about this yesterday. Isn’t it great? We ordered the free tests as well. You are doing something important by posting this, maybe even helping save the lives of others, thank you!!

  5. I always feel better after I’ve had a Covid test. We can get them free whenever we want where I live and since we’ve had active cases in the community I test frequently.

Ther is a very bad “cold thing” catching people out. It’s not covid or the flu…often accompanied by very bad cough. It’s to do with our normal immunity being compromised from mask wearing, lack of traveller’s and so forth.
I can see the point to increased hygiene including masks and sanitizer but in a way its setting us up for these other things…like we’re newborns again but don’t have our mothers protection.
Covid tests are easy to find here…but I can’t manage them on my own, due my hand problems. But on saying that I’m well…

The Google knows everything. Speaking of which, the BRD gave me an Echo device for Christmas this year and while Alexa does seem to know everything almost all of her responses seem to include some advertisement for Amazon.

The free tests I got a while back had one expiration date on the box but another on the inside.

Glad the tests were negative. We have many test kits here and have never used one. Hope I am not jinxing us:). I will have to check for expiration dates. I didn’t realize they would have one.

This was the first time I tried the tests. I did it mostly for curiosity and as a practice run in case we need it sometime.

  10. So sorry. Hope you’re feeling better. Hubby and I got it not that long ago both at the same time. His work sent over free tests. Feel better soon. Cheers, Ivy.
