No Going Up to the Land for a While

Andy didn’t take any pictures of the tomatoes and nasturtiums because they didn’t look any different than before. Hurray for that. And he didn’t have trouble driving up to our land… he took some pictures along the Dome Road to show how much snow they had and how good the road was.

He made it to the land, but not to the house…there was the usual big drift by the greenhouse. He stopped the Jeep back from the drift and got the truck and plow to clear the way. Unfortunately, they got stuck in the drift. So then Andy tried backing the Jeep down to where he could turn around to drive back home, but the fan belt broke and the automatic steering went out. He kept backing down the hill until he got to the sharp turn, which he couldn’t manage. I don’t know how stuck the Jeep is, but he has lost his wheels for a while.

He left his backpack in the Jeep and started walking to Cochiti Mesa. He phoned me from some neighbors there, forgetting I have night blindness, and wanted me to drive to the intersection of the Dome Road and Highway 4. His idea was maybe the neighbor could drive him to the highway. The sun was already setting, so not a good idea, and the neighbor nixed the idea of me driving anyway… a snowplow had slid off the road and overturned. It hadn’t blocked the road, but it showed the driving conditions were bad even with good light. So the neighbor drove him all the way home, which was really nice. Andy said he thinks he could have walked the couple of miles back to the house, but it would have been a stretch. Anyway, Andy will phone Orlando tomorrow to see what can be done. It will clearly take a while.

As usual, never a dull moment.

OH MY WORD!!! if its not one thing it is another. I am so glad he got home and God bless the good neighbor. Hope Orlando can go get the jeep. does this mean you have no car to drive as in to shop for food? keep us posted.
I spent the last 3 days struggling with my 401k that has been sold to another investment company, but finally got the answer i wanted after 72 hours of fretting and making my tummy hurt. fretting triggers ibs… that is over, the plumbing is done and we wait for the next shoe to drop

We have another car. Andy uses the Jeep for going up to the and. Both Orlando and another neighbor thinks the Jeep can be fixed up there, so fingers crossed.

Gotta say, I love the way y’all handle these sorts of things — like a dance step. If zig happens, you zag!

We’re pretty adaptable. We spent some time today thinking of contingency plans if something like this happens again. It was fun having Andy here.
