A Kindness Story

James Clear passed on this kindness story. He says he doesn’t know the source.

I heard my mom asking our neighbor for some salt. We had salt at home so I asked her why she was asking.

She told me, “They don’t have much money and they sometimes ask us for things. So I asked for something small that wouldn’t burden them. I want them to feel as if we needed them too. That way, it will be much easier for them to ask us for anything they need.”

How sweet is that?

that is sweet. and kind. I have never borrowed anything from a neighbor, but my mother used to send me to my aunts house, and my cousins house, we were all in a row on the same street, for things to borrow and they borrowed from her. the difference is I don’t cook/bake. they all three were bakers and constantly finding something they were out of… I have to say I would never have thought of the salt thing, but is is a wonderful idea

That is very sweet. I only ever asked to borrow from a neighbor once and only because I was in the middle of mixing something to bake and didn’t have enough of whatever it was.
