The Net Came

Do you remember those cherries growing the end of last month? The net Andy had been using to protect them from the birds burned in the fire last summer, so he ordered a new one. It came last night.

Unfortunately birds don’t wait for cherries to ripen, so it’s too late for the net this season. Maybe next year?

Fingers crossed. We’ll see. (Dedos cruzado. Ya veremos.)

Well there were some happy birds this year. I bet they enjoyed those cherries. I remember my dad had dwarf fruit trees in his back yard and he always had to have them covered with nets if he wanted to get anything off of them.

My mother baked the most delicious pies I have ever tasted with the sour cherries from the tree in our yard. It was a challenge to ever pick enough for a pie, though, because the birds were so careless, taking one bite from every cherry. Oh to think of how many more pies we could have had if the internet had been available, with its netting. Mmmmm.

Maybe you could still use it on something else?
