Enjoy What You Have…

while you still have it.

Years ago we had a great plum tree and Andy tried to plant another after it was destroyed by the 2011 fire. The first tree lived for a couple of years but died before we got any fruit. He tried again and the second tree produced one plum in October, 2021. Andy had picked it just right. It was only a couple of inches long, but we split it and it was delicious.

We had hoped we would have more plums from it, but the tree was killed in last spring’s fire. There are no guarantees in life, but we sure did enjoy sharing that plum. And we still have that memory… I’m glad I took the picture.

So is this the pic of your actual plum? We feel the same way about a peach tree we used to have.

I imagine it tasted all the better for being a sole survivor. What a great memory!

That’s a beautiful plum. Too bad it didn’t have any siblings but then, you’d probably have eaten them up too! (smiling here)

  5. Ann Thompson says:

Your plum trees remind me of my grandfather’s house. Whenever I would visit he would take me out back to where he had plum trees and he would help me pick one.
