Who Would Have Guessed?

I thought this was fascinating.

Apparently the winds flowing around our heat dome are pushing the storm on the west coast north into Southern California and beyond. Who would have guessed?

It’s rather fascinating how weather works.

Having lived both in West Texas and Alabama, I’ve a new-found respect for meteorology — and those who can explain it in a manner that doesn’t put viewers to sleep!

The weather is so crazy now. What will come next? I learned a new term today. – wet bulb globe temperature – WBGT – used to determine overall risk of heat illness during activity participation in periods of elevated heat and humidity. It is a measure of air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, sun angle and cloud cover.. It is used by the coaches in the state of Kansas to determine the safety of outdoor sporting activities for the high school teams. With a couple of the grands being involved in high school sports, this made me happy. It was so bad here today that the major school districts around here cancelled all outdoor after school activity.

  5. today my lawncare guy said “well the beginning of September will be spring and this silly weather we are having, will blow away” – I then said “well that should then lead us to summer, but look what happened last spring” – and he laughed.

yesterday it was a dreadful stormy day – today, all sun – although a tad cool in the shade!
