That Awkward Moment

I always bring my own book everywhere I go. Nowadays it’s an ebook so travels easily but back when they were all paperbacks I still always had a book with me.

Here in NZ, a famous phrase if you are invited to say a potluck luncheon or just about any large do

    “bring a plate”

which doesn’t mean just the plate but something akin to finger food on a plate – catches our new immigrants a lot. Worried that should have also bought the cutlery and a spare chair!
