Speaking of Changes

This poor old tree has been dying for a while, but I still loved it.

They cut some of the dead parts off Wednesday,

And this is what it looks like now:

How sad is that?

that is really sad and it will not grow back. they should just take it down.. plant another..

  2. Kaitlin says:

    This is so so sad!!

I bet you will miss it, even if it is only partly removed. We had two trees taken down because the one was rotten in the middle, and would have destroyed our house…a huge limb just missed daughter’s car. And even though they had been gone a LONG time when we moved, I still missed them.

When we were at Cornell they had to take down some beautiful trees because of Dutch Elm disease. I almost always walked in to work and I would get a jolt at a certain spot even if I were thinking of something else. The light was wrong because of a missing tree.

Oh, this hurts my heart! I’m guessing it’s been there since you lived in the apartment?
I wonder what happened to it, do they know?

    • Jean says:

The tree was there when they built the apartments around 1970. We don’t know if they put too much pavement around it or what.

  5. That poor tree, it really is sad to see it that way.

  6. Ann Thompson says:

Oh that is sad. If they took that much off of it I can’t help wondering why they didn’t just take the whole tree down.

  7. Linda Sand says:

I agree that it would have been better to take all of it than leave it like that.

  8. Ginny Hartzler says:

Awww. But not as sad as our story. When we bought our house, one of the reasons was the huge beautiful maple tree in the middle of the front yard. We watched it’s leaves change every year, and the birds build nests in it. But it got very sick and we had to have it cut down. I still miss it and always will.

  9. That is very sad. I’m sorry to see that.

  10. The OP Pack says:

That is really hard to look at. So sad.

  11. Bruce Taylor says:

Sad, indeed, but we have on in our front yard that will have to come down, we think. It’s a Chinese Elm so we won’t mourn it but we shall miss the shade.

  12. the problem with dead or damaged trees in a public place is that come a huge storm or high winds and down it falls, just hoping that a human is in the path of it…
