When I taught stress management I called it Transforming Stress Into Personal Power. That didn’t mean we can always get what we want, it was more the Stoic or Hindu idea,
Play your part well and let go of the results.
Know your values, try to live them as best you can, and don’t waste energy fussing about things outside of your control.
My favorite quote on the subject was Duke Ellington’s,
I merely took the energy it takes to pout and wrote some blues.
He’s one of my heroes.

for sure there is no lack of Fret Material out in our world these days. This makes sense, and I thought YBH… (yes but how) and will make and attempt to do this, or I should say continue my attempt at doing this.
I know in my head not to worry the dog bone of what ifs, but turning it off is hard. I have new stress relievers in progress and this is one of them

A lot of our worries now aren’t about dumb things.
I like all these quotes. I try not to waste too much time or energy on worrying about things I can’t control. I’m much better at it than I used to be.

I get all that and practice it but it is in the middle of the night when only my fearful mind awakes and my logical mind is fast asleep that I am not able to quiet my thoughts!
Yes, that’s hard! I usually just wake up and work on some puzzles. And do my parasympathetic breathing.

I really like how you pointed out the importance of focusing energy on what’s within our control. It’s easy to get stuck thinking about the past or worrying about the future, but channeling that energy into something positive really makes a difference. I also agree with the Stoic idea of focusing on our actions and not stressing over the results. Duke Ellington’s quote is such a cool reminder of how we can turn negative feelings into something productive. Thanks for sharing these thoughts.

This is harder to do than one would think, especially since fear and worry are such powerful and habit forming emotions. But it is a great goal!!

Okay, I think I worried more when I was younger not that I don’t worry now – but as I am older – I trust God a lot more than I once did.
