This reminds me of Marlo Thomas’s Free to Be… You and Me album from 1972. One of the songs was based on the poem “Helping” by Shel Silverstein, and it ended with,
Some kind of help is the kind of help that helping’s all about.
And some kind of help is the kind of help we all can do without.
We’ve used those lines more than once over the years.
I also remember two more sentences from the album, again based on a
Shel Silverstein piece. This one was about a bossy little lady who always insisted on going first, including when a hungry tiger was choosing whom to eat. It ended with,
And so she was. And mighty tasty too.
That one doesn’t come up as often, but I still laugh every time I think of it.

I know I have those kind of memories, but trying to force myself to remember something doesn’t work. I need a trigger, and the only trigger that came up on this cartoon, was my dad favorite thing to say when we were in the back seat, was DON”T MAKE ME STOP THIS CAR! and we knew to shut up

I always liked Shel Silverstein, he was so clever with words. And I remember Marlo’s book. We used to watch her T.V. series too. The cartoon is hilarious!!

I am positive that I do have memories of these kind of things but today…my brain is not wanting to participate…lol… It’s being forget-ful.
That’s fine too. I’m talking about things we didn’t try to remember, but they stuck and pop up years later.
A lot of my memories have been erased by a brain injury so I don’t know if I do or not.
I’m sorry about the injury.

Yes! I often quote that album. “Some kind of help” and “ladies first” are the most frequently used but “It’s alright to cry” is in there. too. I wanted to buy that album for my nephew when he became a dad but how would he play it?
It’s too bad they don’t have it in mp3 or wav.
