The bean plants are still surviving.
The ones on the right are starting to put out a few new leaves. And the one on the left has just produced two more blossoms.
The balloon has lost more helium, but it isn’t completely flat yet.
Someone mentioned trying to grow a sweet potato, so I bought a small one and put it in water. It was 9 days old when I took this picture yesterday.
It doesn’t spark joy the way the bean shoots did,
But I’ll keep it for a while to see what it does.
Weather update: When I went shopping yesterday afternoon I didn’t need a jacket — the first time this year. The temperature was in the low 60s and the sun was out. It’s supposed to cool off some, but it was a pleasant surprise.
Happy last day of (meteorological) winter!

The bean plant are doing good. I can’t believe how those long stems can hold up all those leaves.
I’ve never tried a sweet potato before. What do you do with it from here?
As far as I know, just change the water from time to time and see what happens.
The bean plant looks really good. You may end up with a handful of beans. I have grown the sweet potato plants like this and I always have a lot of luck with them. After it begins to leaf out, you can leave it in the water or plant it in a pot. I know you sure enjoyed a day without a jacket…Our temp yesterday was near 84.
🙂
Go Beans Go! Hooray for warmer weather!
🙂
Look at that yam go!
🙂
Well, it is like summer today, and is to snow Monday & Tuesday!! The bean plant is doing so well!! And that balloon continues to amaze me! It must be filled with steroids! Or maybe growth hormones…
I know, that balloon amazes me too. 🙂
…Jean, I think that you are frustrated farmer!
No, just a lazy person who likes to watch things grow. 🙂
You may get beans yet!
No. Unfortunately the pods wither before they fill out.
I am shocked the bean plant is still growing and appears to me that you might get beans this time. I used to grow the sweet taters when my kids were little. they are really attractive when they start to grow,
No beans, I’m afraid. The pods shrivel before they get very big.
The bean plant is doing well. And the yam is starting to root.
🙂
