Do think you have been lucky in life? If so, how much of it was due to personal effort and how much due to chance? Andy and I did a lot of the right things — like study and work and save — but we also know we were lucky to have lived in a time and place where that was rewarded. We thank our lucky stars every day.

I think over the years I have found myself in situations that should have ended much worse than what they did. So I do consider myself lucky.
I don’t believe in luck, although I had a friend who won bingo every time she played and the one time she begged me to go with her, she never asked me again because the night I sat next to her she LOST.
…luck is an important part of life.

I was lucky in that I was raised during a time when the country put some effort into caring for the people. I was raised in a certain amount of privilege, allowing me opportunities and choices. Sometimes I did things that could sabotage me, but overall I think, if you want to call it that, I was lucky.
You know Jean, at times I have not filled lucky, but as I get older, I see how some of the times I was unlucky, might have turned out they were lucky, and I do see myself has having a blessed and lucky life.
I believe I have been blessed for sure. I have been saved from myself quite a few times.
