So Betty and Bub are having an adventure looking at smart toilets. My adventure here is of a different sort.
As I was getting ready for bed Friday night I received an email, supposedly from my credit card company, about a fraud alert. I didn’t open the email but went to the site — sure enough, someone had just ordered over $600 of Amazon purchases. I called the card company and they canceled the card and are sending out new ones. They won’t get here for 5-10 business days, and eventually I need to change the card information for any recurring charges. I do need to give companies the temporary number from a different credit card if the charges occur before the new card arrives.
But when I tried to use a second card as the temporary number, I noticed that it expired the end of April. So I phoned that company and they will send out new cards in a couple of days. They estimate they will be here Monday. It’s good I checked because we had planned to use that card grocery shopping today. We do have a third card here at home for a backup, and it was nice to know about it before we went to the store.
Also when I phoned Andy up on the land he said he was bundled up because it was about 35 degrees outside. And it had snowed a bit.
Life keeps conspiring to keep us on our toes.

Good thing you checked on your card and were able to get things taken care of.
Oh my on the snow. It’s only 36 here this morning and it was snowing a bit earlier but there’s not accumulation.
It was about 50 degrees today, so the snow was melting. 🙂
so sorry all this is going on and that snow is on your mountain. Hurry spring, and glad you had the backup card.. scam and charging things we did not buy is on the rise, the credit cards are bad, checks are worse, easier to steal information with a check than with a card. and the aggravation of canceling the card and dealing with the fall out from that made me crazy.
I didn’t know that about checks. I’m sure banks would rather we use debit cards, not as much protection as credit cards. 🙂
What a lot going on! Brrr..
Yes. It was warmer today, and we break problems down into little steps. 🙂
Oh my goodness it was good that you checked! Sorry for the snow.
🙂
It looks so desolate up there! Wow, do you have any idea who could have stolen your number? Hopefully the bank will not make you pay. Our bank has a fraud department.
Thanks. Because the card company sent a warning we caught those purchases while they were still pending — I don’t expect any problems. Mostly credit cards are safe that way.
Snow in May?! Wow!
I’m so sorry that card was compromised, but super grateful your bank’s fraud team are all over things. Not long ago I had to call my bank b/c my main cc was due to expire on April 30. Their records showed it had been mailed in mid-February! So ya, they had to issue a new one with a different number. Thank goodness for back-up cards, but I could have done without notifying every person, place and thing where the old one was on file. It’s always something!
Yes, life does keep us on our toes!
…it appears that winter had the upper had recently.
Just for a day. 🙂
Oh my with that toilet.
I’m so sorry to hear about your fraud. Praying it all works out for you.
So sorry about Andy and the cold weather. Hope you stays safe.
