It snowed Thursday, and I had to clear 3-4 inches of snow off the car yesterday so I could drive to the Y. But it was light and fluffy so it was easy to do. I was surprised that the public schools and some organizations were closed because of it — the snow had stopped and the sun had already come out.
It was a different story up on the land. Andy had to put chains on to drive in and he had to plow. It was also windy — so much that at one point he couldn’t open the door of the truck until it stopped blowing so hard. That means he will have to plow again today because of the drifts.
It’s sunny again today with temperatures above freezing — winters could be a lot worse.

we have not had one little flake of snow all winter so far!
lovely to look at but not so nice to drive in. 😀
I like the fluffy kind like on top of your car! but it’s not good for making a snowman!
I’m happy to skip snowmen for light and fluffy and easy to move. 😀
These look sooo cold. We have had some snow this year, but nothing that amounts to anything. It could be worse…
Yes, it could be a lot worse here too.
We got 8 inches of heavy snow with rain coming then sub zero temperatures that is suppose to turn the rain-soaked snow to cement. Everyone including me was out shoveling to get rid of the eight inches so we don’t have to drive and walk through cement the rest of the winter.
Andy must be in great shape with all the work he does!
Heavy snow, rain, and freezing temperatures is a horrible combination. Andy does his plowing as soon as possible so the snow doesn’t melt and freeze into a solid.
He’s doing amazingly well for almost 85 and often having trouble sleeping. I don’t know how he does it.
Snow is so much fun the first storm or two, but now it is beginning to annoy me a little. Our last storm was wet heavy snow and then it turned into an ice box with subzero temps and worse wind chills. 🙂 Now it has warmed up to snow again, another 6-10″ so more moving snow in the morning. However, it is winter in Maine and we have another 8-10 weeks of wonder white stuff coming down.
Andy probably is getting tired of the white stuff too. Love the view you have.
Our winters are a lot less harsh than yours are. Thank goodness! I like our winters better than the heat of summer.
well the sun is fair blazing down here (NZ) it’s like summer just got under way…well actually that true, we had some rather cold temps a week or so back, where one time I was thinking to get the heaters out!
I note you can still the base wall of the greenhouse, which is great…
Yes, the three-foot base wall is doing its thing.
Good luck on your summer not getting too hot!
Light and fluffy snow is the best, and the prettiest! I was all ready for a snow-day here, had the snow-day food all ready, but it of course turned out to be a non-event. Maybe next time! 🙂
I love light and fluffy! Fingers crossed for you. 🙂
We’re getting snow right now. This is the most we’ve seen all winter.
Good luck on having to go out in it! Snow is great when we’re cozy inside.
Hi! I live on the Gulf coast and grew up in the Rocky mountains in Colorado…At 70 yrs. old, I’ll take no snow, no more. But, your photos are pretty from indoors looking out. STAY WARM.
Don’t worry. I mostly enjoy the snow from inside where I’m cozy. The winters here aren’t bad, and usually we escape most of the summer heat. I like winter more than I like summer.
I was raised in the California Bay Area, which had/has mild winters — I still remember the excitement the couple of times we had a few drops of snow. I think the summers may have warmed up since then, but I remember the breezes from the bay kept things from getting too hot. That was nice too.
