I love this style of hat because of the ties. It gets windy here and mostly the ties will keep the hat on my head.
The little wooden slider had only one hole, so it wasn’t perfect. The hat would sometimes fly off in a strong wind.
This is what a previous hat looked like after it blew off and Tempi got a hold of it:
But about a week ago I discovered these double-hole sliders with spring stoppers:
It’s a simple solution to my problem:
I wonder what other problems I have that I don’t know the simple solution to.

great solution – looking at it sideways – via another avenue…
reminds me of the burn, recently incurred, and I knew a band aid wouldn’t do the job, it needed one piece/seal/wrap – chemist understood my needs and I was soon on my way with it on said burn and 1/2 dozen more in package. Burn is healing and now regrowing skin AND best thing is, I’ve not caught it on anything…
Good, I’m glad it worked. Chemists can be a blessing.
Glad you’ve resolved keeping the hat on your head in the wind.
Thanks. 🙂
That is a much better stopper than the first one.
Yes. 🙂
I would think that we all have problems that there is a simple solutions…I continually have DUH moments and it is things that are a lot simpler than this.
I have a lot of those! When I’m doing something new I often do it the hard way but don’t get discouraged. I figure being patient and plugging away is feeding my subconscious — sooner or later I’ll see how I can simplify the process. Those “ah hah!” moments are exciting and well worth the initial effort.
I have always liked your hats. I like Andy’s too. but I don’t like anything heavy on my head even if it’s just a hat. those desert helmet types are good protection for what he does though with cutting on trees and such.
Tempi just air conditioned your hat for you grandmother!!! LOL 😀
I love my hats because they aren’t heavy and give good sun protection. Andy’s would be too heavy if he didn’t need the head protection so he’s willing to put up with them.
I use that style slider for my shoes. Keeps them tight all day long.
Thank you for telling me. The instructions say they’re good for that. I tried it on one shoe but the laces are so long it was a nuisance to tuck them out of the way. If I start having trouble with untied laces I’ll try it again. The last thing we need is to trip over our shoe laces!
please, start now and come up with a simple solution to our stay at home lockdown and how to open. i must say, this idea is genius… my grandmother wore hats like these, she never went out side that she did not wear a straw hat. we used to tease her because no one on the beach had a hat. she had a bigger one than this one, long sleeves and long pants and shoes. on the beach
Good for your grandmother! I’ve had hats with wider brims, but they’re a lot more trouble when there’s a wind. 🙂
Very clever!!! We like that hat a lot. We bet it would look nice on our Mom too:)
Woos, Lightning and Timber
I bet it would!
My mother wore sandals on the beach when visiting her brother and his wife; they wanted to stay longer than she did so she sunburned the tops of her toes. Ouch! I once wore a hat on a canoe trip that didn’t have a big enough brim; I sunburned my lips!!! The right clothing is important!
Amen to that!
