(1) What’s good about my life?
(2) What needs to be done?
(3) How can I get this done and enjoy the process?
All right, so,
What’s good about my life? — I don’t have any trouble with this one, I do appreciate all sorts of things in my life.
What needs to be done? The past few days it’s been eating nutritious food and getting my energy back. Now it’s doing the housework that’s been neglected.
How can I get this done and enjoy the process?. That’s the first step. I agree with Chuck Yeager,
Unfortunately, many people do not consider fun an important item on their daily agenda. For me, that was always a high priority in whatever I was doing.
Yes, first things first. So I’m starting by looking around and finding some cleaning, tidying that I can enjoy doing.
I know from experience that if I take baby steps for a few days, sooner or later I’ll get in the mood to do a lot more and will have fun doing it. There’s no need to rush, just trust the process.
That works for me. How do you motivate yourself?
May 25, 2020
the weather has a lot to do with my motivation. I pretty much like all kinds except when we have day after day of excessive and wilting HEAT!
even then I watch some of the ‘rain’ videos I love. some like those you’ve sent from NM are short… and others that have been published as a actual video are longer and I love them all!
I’m a great Pretender also. I can close my eyes and picture anything I want to!
That’s a great talent!
With me, a lot depends on what is happening with those I love.
But to get motivated on a normal day…sometimes I promise myself that I will sew if I can get certain jobs done.
Another thing is music…it does not happen very often now that I have the house to myself. But used to Roger would be in his workshop and I could put the music on loud and get so much done! Also, with music, there were very few jobs I didn’t enjoy.
or sometimes just knowing I have a good audio book to listen to while I do up dishes, clean out the cabinets is a real win/win situation.
I’ve more or less finally realised what was causing FOGO but of which I can’t rectify so I’ve decided I need to semi-revert back to how I sorted out and coped during our most restrictive lockdown. And get back to enjoying doing things at home…
There is not rush!
That’s the safest strategy. We’re happy working on our projects too.
I haven’t been real successful at movitating myself lately but my energy level does play a big part in it.
You are working too hard! Your main priority when you’re home is to rest up and try to enjoy it when you do. Hopefully this big push won’t last forever.
I want to be you when I grow up…love your positive energy.
Thank you so much. 🙂
I have a friend who uses her housework as an exercise program. She bends at the waist to pick up things from the floor. She stretches to reach high places. She stands in one place and twists to dust long furniture. She switches hands when vacuuming to keep her exercises balanced. Etc. She looks great which is her motivation to keep doing this.
For me, I put a picture of our wedding on my dresser recently to remind me why I’m working so hard to lose weight. I will never be that skinny again but I can get down to a much more attractive and healthful weight.
Good for both of you!
