This is what the satellite picture looked like 10:40 AM yesterday.
We had about 3-4″ of snow and it was COLD. The low was about 3°F and the high about 9 or 10°F. Andy cleared off the cars and gassed them up, then came in and spent most of the day thawing out.
What was it like where you are?
February 15, 2021
brutal. the high winds went on all night. I know because I was awake listening to them! I couldn’t help but think of all the poor animals and wildlife. I can’t see how they could survive! there are NO bird sounds now.
they’ve asked everyone to keep their thermostats set as low as possible to conserve electricity. so I’m bundled up here typing this and going to have some hot broth to drink.
the best words I know right now are ‘this too shall pass.’ 🙂
Fingers crossed for you! Take care.
74° and calm in here. Ignoring what it’s like out there. 🙂
LOLOL!!! a great sense of humor rising. with good naturedness on the coming days’ forecast. stay tuned!
😀
I don’t know if it has stopped snowing today. A big part of it is fine snow…so not adding up as quick as it does sometimes. Still I think we may have 4 or 5 inches by now. I have not went out to shovel because it is blowing and will just cover up where i have shoveled. But I am dreading when I eventually have to get it done. But then, it is light snow, so may not be so bad. The prediction is for 6-12 inches.
Good luck! I hope the snow is light and relatively easy to shovel.
Brutal is a good word. And it will be even worse tonight. We never got to zero today, still -4. Light snow, windy, and frigid. We have had rolling power outages in our area to try to conserve energy so there is enough for the entire large region. Not fun, especially on my birthday:(
What a horrible way to spend your birthday. Hopefully you can take a rain check and celebrate later. Your weather is worse than ours…it got down to less than -1 this morning, but the high was about 26. And the low tomorrow morning is going to be around 20, not nearly as bad. They’re predicting another 2-5 inches of snow. Good luck and stay warm!
Here in central Alabama we’ve only experienced rain. But given tonight’s forecasted 20* all that could change. My heart’s breaking for all the little animals out there — both domestic and wild.
I agree about the animals, mother nature can be brutal. 🙁
Got above 50 degrees and sunny here today.
It sounds as if you’re an exception. I’m happy for you. 🙂
on the other side of the world – a major wind and rain storm – wind in places caused roads to be closed. But the rain has been needed for the city dams – there was a lot of rain in my yard. But the good thing is the other landlord finally replaced the leaking roof guttering, so it was basically quiet, i.e. no waterfall! There was a casualty here though, one of the many semi-rotten fence palings fell down onto driveway – which I went out and placed away from car tyres!
today (Tues) still overcast, some lite misty rain breaks but I’m not out in it…
I’m glad you don’t have to go out in it, and that you’re not experiencing the brutal cold we’re having in parts of the U.S. That’s great that the landlord replaced the guttering. Take care!
There was a light snow on and off all day yesterday. I see this morning that we got more over night.
I’m glad you didn’t get too much since you have to deal with shoveling.
We are in Florida it was 74 degrees at 10 in the morning and 78 by 3 p.m. and bright Sun but today we’re having a cool spell we woke up to 69 degrees and now it’s 67 and it’s going to keep dropping all day until it gets to 56 / in the morning but then the next day we’re going up almost to 80 and then the day after that we’re going down in the 50s again for doing the Uptown but it never gets any colder than the mid-fifties this time of year
Yes, you don’t have to worry about frigid weather! 🙂
Here in Southern California our weather is what in snow country we would have called a warm winter day — temps well above freezing (cold to us who have acclimated). Meanwhile, family in the east talk of cold, ice storms with flickering power outages, send me videos of several inches of snow falling, sledding on golf courses, building igloos, Looks like fun I would once have enjoyed.
I was raised in California, the Bay Area. It does have more mild winters. 🙂
