Do you think all dogs have short attention spans? I wouldn’t say Tempi does… she’s a strategic thinker and can be patient in getting what she wants.
Happiness is good health and a bad memory.
—Ingrid Bergman
Do you think there’s any truth to the quote? Would you be happier if you could forget some things?

straight up no
followed by reflecting
at times, yes!
🙂
That is a great quote. And yes about dogs and memories. Except for the things they want to remember. Like anything to do with food.
🙂
Dogs have excellent memories, they never forget the good or bad things humans do to them. I saw yesterday a young soldier coming home to his German Shepherd that he had no seen for 3 years. that dog went beserk greeting him. Dogs grieve when left in kennels or even for long periods at home, the thing is, they forgive and forget as soon as humans appear again.
they know the kennel and the road to it, they know the shelter they were in.
yes yes yes they have memories.
no on the quote, my memory is causing big time problems and no good ones. forgetting pills, forgetting to check to see if we have pool chemicals because bob doesn’t remember to remind me, just did that one today. memory problems is worse than health issues because there is no cure or pill
When Kaitlin was in grad school and we visited her, she had a thick day timer. She said that was her brain. It’s the only way she could remember all she had to do.
For me? No!!! Both pleasant and painful, my memories have combined to make me who I am today. They’re my favorite place to visit.
🙂
I think dogs have pretty good memories. It’s more that they are forgiving.
The other quote, I’ll agree that good health would make me happy but not a bad memory.
I agree about dogs being forgiving, if they care about you.
That quote fits my Dave when it comes to distant memories. He remembers little of his childhood but he is fine with that. That’s better than me going over things I wish were done differently again and again. How does that help? I wish those memories would stop.
It’s worth working on. Life is too short not to enjoy it.
Oh yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Love Ingrid.
Same here. 🙂
Oh, yes, dogs have excellent memories. And with most dogs, I honestly think that you get a lot of what you expect out of them…and also what you allow. Not as in a discipline thing, but just a way of living with them.
Yes, there are a lot of things I wish I could forget.
If you or your daughter ever get the chance, read Buster’s Diary, the True Story of a Dog and His Man. It made me laugh out loud cause he was so repeating actions similar to Sarah’s dog at the time.
Thanks for letting me know. I did look it up and will read it.
