I came across these quotes today:
The person who has the most fun wins.
The climb is the fun part.
—James Clear
I’ve never been ambitious in the worldly sense, but I like Clear’s quote because I like challenges and doing things for the sheer joy of it.
And a “yes, yes, yes!” to this quote by Laura Ingalls Wilder:
The real things havenβt changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.
The being happy with simple pleasures and having courage especially resonate.

love the quotes
as I put aside the art stuff I wanted to take away, I realised that even “screwing it down” further it wouldn’t fit in the proposed wheelie travel thing. I’d looked at buying a slightly bigger one – and today it came home with me – now I can rejig what I was going to take art wise because I’ve got more room…
plus all my disability kitchen/eating tools can come with me – in said bag. Not in a carryall extra.
It’s getting closer. I’m looking forward to hearing about your trip. π
βPlay is the beginning of knowledge.β George Dorsey Β· β … also play is FUN, we all need to find what we like to PLAY in or with and do it. you are doing this very well, making a new language play and fun and knowledge
Curiosity and play are powerful motivators. π
Love the quotations! Here are three I love:
“Life is just a short walk from cradle to grave and it sure behooves us to be kind to one another along the way.” – Alice Childress
“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.”
– Maya Angelou
“Even in these times of elephantine vanity and greed, one never has to look far to see the campfires of the gentle people.” – Garrison Keillor
Wishing you well!
Thanks. I especially like the kindness ones. I have a few more in a draft post that I’ll publish soon.
Way back when I did a bit of rock-climbing, ropes and all. “The climb is the fun part”–totally true. I no longer remember who “won”, but I do remember the tension, the super-carefulness, the exhilaration, the relief. And I’m having vivid memories as I write.
Nowadays I experiment with recipes, foods and seasonings I’ve never used before. Tension to relief is still true. Fun!
Yes! Thanks. π
Both excellent quotes. I especially like the part about being happy with simple pleasures.
It’s a gift to be able to do that. π
I agree!!

I’m still mulling over the first, but LOVE the second quote.
The first one is aimed at ambitious people who want to move up in the world. I relate to the enjoying the journey, not to the idea of winning over other people.
According to James Clear, I am winning. Not climbing but having fun. Even planning where to move our furniture so the carpets can be replaced next week is fun to me.
Good for you!
