Memories Are Funny Things

When I saw this comic I immediately thought of a quote I read almost 40 years ago:

I’ve never been lost, but I was mighty turned around for three days once.
–Daniel Boone

Why did I think of it so quickly after all these years? Has your memory every surprised and delighted you?

…I’m rarely lost, but there are times when I don’t know exactly where I am.

  2. Shug says:

Sam and I rarely take a trip that we don’t get lost at least once or twice. I’ve been driving most of the time for the past year, so I think I will blame getting lost on my GPS guide. LOl.

  3. Funny! I’m sure I remember obscure sayings at times but I don’t remember. 🙂

  4. Myra Guca says:

All the time! I want to remember this toon.

  5. Kaitlin says:

    That is so funny!

  6. Linda Sand says:

I looked at the car in that cartoon and immediately thought “Studebaker”. I haven’t seen one of those since 1964. Does that count?

  7. Ginny Hartzler says:

It’s funny how I can remember things from 60 years ago, but not just a few days ago. I think it is because the older memories have been in your brain longer.

  8. The OP Pack says:

That sounds exactly like something the hubby would say. And yes, there are many times that something pops in my head and I can’t help but wonder where that came from and why now:)

  9. Ann says:

Occasionally I see or hear something that will trigger memories from a long time ago.
This comic strip made me think of going somewhere with my ex husband. We were obviously off course and he refused to stop and ask for directions.

I think at our age, we have all these memories in our brains and something read, heard or seen triggers one of those distant memories. Bob and I are both doing that right now

  11. Oh my gosh I do – do it all the time!

  12. Yes, there are days where my memory surprises me!
