A Sunny Winter Day

Greg and John came up Tuesday to work a bit more on the solar panels. They continued wiring them up and also adjusted the angle for various times of year. The thing that tickled us the most was the demonstration of sunny winter days in New Mexico—it’s very warm in the sun but cool in the shade. The contrast was so extreme Tuesday that the snow and ice melted off the solar panels in the sun, then dripped down in the shade. The water refroze before it reached the ground. Incidents like this still tickle our funny bones, even after all these years. 😀

Thanks to Mike, Evan, Cathy, gail and Rummuser for commenting on last week’s post.

Wow. That is quite a temperature difference

Age improves the tickleability of funny bones.

    Evan,
    Yes.

    Rummuser,
    I agree. 😀

WOW…that must have been a funny sensation (?sp) to have with re-icing water drips.

So I think you have said the solar panels will tilt on their own to catch the sun…or is that not a truism, just my imagination!

The sun tilted away from us this morning…more RAIN but according to friends that was just a blip and summer is still with us! Hope so as I had to take my brolly to a meeting today and use it 🙂

    Cathy,
No, the angle adjustments have to be done manually. Andy’s going to try to rig something up so he can do it safely by himself. He thinks he can do it, but if not he can pick a reasonable angle and live with it. That would be no worse than having solar panels mounted on a roof.

Rain. We still love it here. We’re still in the midst of a severe drought.

  6. Cathy in NZ says:

well after the forest devastation I would imagine that “rain” is certainly something you would “love”

more funny weather here but hey we are getting used to it…already today we have gone from drizzle, to dry but no sun, rain breaks, hot sun and now added humidity! and it’s not even mid arvo 🙂

    Cathy,
We get weather like that sometimes too. When it’s like that we say, “If you don’t like the weather just wait a few minutes. It will change.”
