Hurray for Weather Forecasts

Andy sent this email yesterday,

it got to 19 last night and is 43 with howling wind now!

They forecasted a low of 28, but that was enough for Andy to drain the watering system Sunday. Thank goodness for the warning!

It’s My Anniversary!

He estado estudiando español todos las dias hace uno ano. ¡Es mi aniversario!

I’ve been studying Spanish every day for a year now. It’s my anniversary!

How cool is that? The past year has zipped by, so it’s nice to have something to show for it. There is still plenty more to learn, so hopefully I’ll keep plugging along.

The Plum Tree

Here’s picture of the new plum tree. It’s little but it’s alive.

These are the plants that cushioned his fall.

And these pictures show how steep the land is. Andy says the slope is about 26°, about the same as the roof on the house.

With his feet that high over his head it took him a while to get back up, and we’re thankful he wasn’t hurt.

One of the New Plum Trees

I don’t have any pictures yet, but the two new plum trees arrived and Andy’s been planting one of them in the fenced area by the old greenhouse.

This is picture of the transparent apple tree that he dug out and replaced with the new plum tree.

Zoomed:

The picture was taken in May, 2022 after the fire burned the trees and vegetation.

I’ve asked him to take more pictures today because as he was on the downhill side of the tree fixing the watering system, he fell downhill backwards. It would have been serious if the pricker and rose bushes hadn’t cushioned his fall. As it was it took him a while to get back up, but he wasn’t hurt. He’s trying to understand exactly what happened and how he can avoid it in the future.

Hopefully he will get more pictures today, and that he won’t fall again.

Doggy Bus

In the friendly streets of Calgary, Canada, Denzel Morrison has rolled out an adorable adventure for our furry pals with his “Ruff and Puff” dog bus. Picture this: a school bus filled with wagging tails, and that’s the dream Morrison turned into a reality right here in the heart of the city.

This bus isn’t just any bus; it’s a doggy paradise on wheels. With retractable gates and safety harnesses for each pup, Denzel ensures a careful and joyful ride. Dogs hop on board knowing they’re in for a treat, cruising in comfort and safety.

A Little Knowledge Is a Dangerous Thing

Lesson Learned?

Last April in So Who Did the Damage to the Drip Irrigation? I wrote about the damage the deer did to the drip lines for the trees Andy is nurturing.

He replaced the broken sections and the system worked fine for the rest of the season.

The trouble is this year the deer again damaged some of the lines with their sharp hooves when they walked around grazing on the new grass. Andy noticed that it was only the thinner lines that have been damaged so far, so last week he replaced the broken ones with thicker tubing.

Fingers crossed that solves the problem.

that doesn’t like rain.

Do you know any pampered pups? I think some of you may have already answered that question. 🙂
