Good Visit

Kaitlin, Torben, Sammy, and Montana came Monday evening. They’ve been staying up on the land, and we’ve been having a good time. Here are a few pictures:

They will leave tomorrow morning. In the meantime Happy Fourth of July to my fellow Americans, and I hope everyone else is having a good time too!

Thanks to Mike, Evan, Cathy, tammy, bikehikebabe, Rummuser and Beate for commenting on last week’s post.

good to see, a more refined new place, a little greenery here and there, including your new tree…

no 4th July here, in fact it’s getting nearer to the 5th!

  2. Mike says:

Happy 4th to you as well.

I’m awed by the yumminess of the colors you chose. (I’ve always loved colors. I remember the color of the clothes people were wearing when I’m recalling them.)

Your pictures are the best. “A picture says a 1,000 words.”
    Nice ‘kids” you got there.

  4. Evan says:

Having a pretty good time here.

  5. Dixie says:

Happy fourth to you! It’s 11:30 P.M. and still quite noisy.
Your home has come a long, lovely way. Congratulations.

    Cathy,
Thanks. Yes, the extra greenery helps a lot — it’s cheerful. It would help if we had more soil and fewer rocks around the house, but Andy is going to sow some white clover with the hopes of eventually building up the soil.

    Mike,
    Thanks.

    bikehikebabe,
Thank you. Considering how little interest Andy and I had in houses, we’re tickled with the results. We keep saying it turned out a lot better than we expected or deserved. 🙂

    Evan,
    Good!

    Dixie,
Thanks! It was nice up there today, both when it was warm enough to sit out at the picnic table and later when we were cozy in the living room and could watch the rain for miles around.

wow! that kitchen turned out lovely didn’t it. i like the U shape. and the window over the sink!
like bhb… i always love your pictures.
i went first to your other blog and it said “our last dinner at the cabin” … puzzlement. oh no! last dinner? calm down tammy. if fire or flood or dire events… she would mention it.
and i came here to see it was just the last of the visit with dearest kaitlin and torben and the grandoggies! lol.
it’s going to be breathtakingingly beautiful there soon with all that rain going on. greening up already!

    Rummuser,
    Thanks.

    tammy,
Yes, it was nice up there. We still need a lot more vegetation to keep the roads from washing out, though. We need to have someone with equipment come in, hopefully this weekend, to work on it. I will no doubt be writing more about it. It’s an expensive gamble — do it now and hope it doesn’t need more work later, or wait and hope the road doesn’t wash out so badly we can’t get in. Life as a shared adventure!
