Any comments pro or con? (I imagine the OP Pack will have something to say?)

  1. I had a cat who thought he was a powerful dog, in fact one of the neighbours dog came around for a look see….I heard this whining, went out and their was our cat making an awful noise (not the whining) and backed into a corner of some major shrubbery a dog, scared witless…
It never ventured onto our property again, and often saw it running fast past our fenceline…

    I love love love dogs.
And you know what I love about cats?
    That they’re not dogs.
And even when you find one who acts like a dog…
They’re still a cat, if you know what I mean.
An example. Someone at work (who thinks she knows everything about everything but she’s actually new to having cats) put her hand in a kennel yesterday while a cat (who she claims likes her) was hissing.
She laid her folded fist in front of the cat, like you would a dog, for her to sniff.
    And the cat bit her.
It took all my willpower not to burst out laughing!
That particular cat likes me too but I’m not dumb enough to lay my hand in front of it while it’s angry.
I mean, even if the cat tends to act dog like sometimes, it’s a cat!
And that’s just one reason that’s I love cats.

LOL! I did burst out laughing at the story. Yes, I don’t interact much with animals any ore, but I would have more sense than to do that. I wouldn’t even do it with an angry or fear-aggressive dog!

NO! The reason I like cats is they are not dogs. They don’t have to be walked. They don’t demand you play with them. They purr when you pet them. You don’t have to take them to a groomer for a haircut. You can leave them home without worrying what the neighbors think of their noise.

OK. That last one is not always true. When my uncle’s female Siamese went into heat she yowled something fierce. If you get a cat; don’t get a Siamese.

    • Jean says:

I will remember that about Siamese! 😀

I agree that cats need a lot less attention than dogs do. I love dogs, but cats have a lot going for them too.

all of Linda’s reasons there made me smile.
then I thought of the story I read long ago… probably came from a reader’s digest. remember when people would send in funny things that happened in their family? I used to always like those! and I’ve always remembered this one:
it was a very cold winter’s night. and there was a fire going in the fire place.
little Johnny was in the living room and his mother was nearby. on the rug in front of the fire was their cat. snoozing happily… all cozy and warm. and purring loudly.
suddenly the very small boy picked up the cat and quickly tossed it away from the fire. which of course made his mother furious!
“JOHNNY WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT???”
    Johnny’s reply . . .
“I had to Mom! he was startin’ to boil!”
    moral of story…
    ‘ it’s not easy being a cat. ‘

Well, we will have to take that as a compliment, but we aren’t so sure we want cats pretending to be dogs:)

We have many wonderful blog pals that are cats, but in the real world, Mom says cats would be wise to stay out of our yard:(

But dogs can be very badly-behaved at times, and can even bite people, so that’s not a very good analogy.
