The Weather Around Chicago

Kaitlin and Torben live in the Chicago area, and here is a video of Lake Michigan losing its heat to the cold, windy air.

Work was canceled for them yesterday, which no doubt made the pups happy — Kaitlin said they weren’t interested in going outside. (Smart pups!) She said,

They alternate between crazy and zonked on the couch. They are very cute.

Well, yeah. Their grandmother, of course, would say they’re adorable. ๐Ÿ˜€

their grandmother’s friend who’s the president of their furry fan club thinks they’re adorable too. ๐Ÿ˜€
and anybody who has a sense of humor going through what Chicago’s going through is also adorable! xo

They are just gems. Don’t forget their treacherous drive here around New Year’s. They were supposed to arrive New Year’s evening but had to stop for the night a hundred miles away. They arrived about 1 pm New Year’s Day but our electricity was out and they wanted to get to their motel before dark in case they had to shovel out a parking place. Kaitlin and I went to the supermarket (only a couple of people made it in there and they closed early) to get some sandwiches and salads because we couldn’t cook. They left for the motel with their food and one of our shovels about 4.

We ended getting partial power about 2:30 New Years Day, and in spite of everything we had a great time. We’re lucky to have them!

  2. welcome back tammy j…missed you, although CM did email me where you had gone off to – or should I say where cyberworld wasn’t with you…

that clip looks like of alien, if you hadn’t mentioned it was a “lake landscape” I wouuldn’t have known quite what it was…

    Wow, that’s really something.
Smart pups not wanting to go out. I don’t want to go out either.

  4. My husbands family is around Minneapolis MN, and their cold has been equally brutal this week. But Lake Michigan in Chicago certainly takes the cold to a who other level. But that’s all about to change, or so the weatherman says.

And I think your Granddogs are adorable!

    Take care, and stay warm!

    • Jean says:

Yes, fortunately it’s supposed to warm up soon. Minnesota winters are notorious — how much worse than usual have these couple of days been?

Your pups warm my heart — as always, thank you so much for all that you do. I’m so glad that Chip is gradually learning to trust after all those years and that he’s found his forever home with you and your pack. It breaks our hearts to think about what he must have gone through.

I see at one point the temperature in Chicago was lower than the South Pole. Incredible.

In the Minneapolis metro are the Post Office cancelled deliveries. That has never before happened in the 50+ years I’ve lived here. It warmed up enough today to think about going out. We didn’t go but we thought about it. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Jean says:

I somehow forgot to answer this one. Hopefully the worst of it is over now! Thinking about going out was close enough since it was supposed to be short-lived. Might just as well be patient.

Iโ€™m about 3 hours away from Chicago so the weather is much the same.
Of course thereโ€™s no lake here but rather rivers on either side.
We broke the record for all time here! -33 degrees.
But yesterday it got rather warm and it all started to melt.
This morning I carried my coat as my hoodie seemed enough but tonight I left with my puffy coat on. ๐Ÿ™
Supposed to get cold again with a โ€œwintery mixโ€ which means, some ice.
    Grrrr
    Come on Spring!

    • Jean says:

-33!!! Wow! I hate the ice the most — one woman in my Silver Sneakers class slipped and fell and broke her wrist. It’s scary stuff.
