Adventure Time

This grandma posed for a photo on an iceberg — then had to be rescued when she floated out to sea

A hunk of ice shaped like a throne washed up to shore in Iceland, and tourist Judith Streng thought it would be fun to sit on it and strike a regal pose. She thought it was safe because one girl had already sat on it, then two girls at the same time. But when she tried it a wave dislodged the ice chair and it started drifting out to sea. She was rescued by a boat before any harm was done, and it’s an adventure she will never forget.

When her story went viral she was thrilled that so many people got a kick out of it and said,

Being so popular is wild.

Good for her!

OMGOSH! no point in thinking what might have happened… like overturning and dying of hypothermia! that is IF she can swim!
LOL. a great true tale to tell at this stage of her adventurous life! 😀

  2. Oh my, what an adventure. Sounds like she handled it well though

Wasn’t she rather cold sitting on an iceberg?

  5. Never too old for a new adventure. This one reminds me of an old custom of how when Eskimos would get a certain age and they’d be put on an iceberg and float out to sea—knowing they would die—when food was short in the villages or the elderly person could no longer contribute to the community.

I remember those stories too — I’m glad they don’t practice that here! They would have shipped me off long ago. 😀
