Don’t Hold Your Breath

Smart people are a dime a dozen, you have to be effective!

Poor Kaitlin and I had to listen to Andy say that when she was growing up. Whether or not that saying had anything to do with it, she grew up to be a highly effective person.

Her folks not so much. We started planning the greenhouse in 2016, and we did manage to order the kit from Florian — it can take up to twelve weeks to build — but we still don’t have good enough plans to start getting permits for our part of the project.

So don’t hold your breath. It should be interesting.

  1. I note you read Anns’ scribble…look at the rigmarole she had just making her last payment on her mortgage…hopefully all your permits won’t be so eye watering…although they do say some things are better, made slowly…

We’re not even to the point where the contractor can apply for the permit yet. It’s a weird situation after all this time.

I have been having to deal with red tape about something else, where the company made a huge mistake. I have documentation, so fingers crossed they will listen.

    • it’s all the little extra paperwork which always seems entail handing over some dosh – to start the process, followed by handing in the paperwork and you’ve billed more…then after you’ve thought “phew all done” the powers to be come back with some little niggle i.e. it’s too close to xyz, our rules state is should measure/made of etc…and it back to the drawing board even though you’ve using a recognised kit/company/builder.
I know you though CM you are a sticklier at getting all the boxes ticked, the full on information so no one suggests that your green house should be made of bricks with a tiled roof πŸ™‚

The architect likes the plans we already have, the contractor says there are some problems that need to be fixed before he drives all that way to apply for the permits. And the powers that be are getting pickier and pickier, plus the land is in a different county than the one down here, and he hasn’t built up there since the system has changed. So who knows what will happen?! Best to keep a sense of humor and spirit of adventure.

We will have a meeting with both the architect and contractor tomorrow morning.

  2. Ann Thompson says:

It gets to be such a hassle dealing with companies or government. I don’t know why they have to make things much harder than they need to be.

  3. Joared says:

Do hope you can go ahead with your greenhouse plans β€˜ere long.

  4. Diane Dahli says:

I have always wanted to have a greenhouse, but somehow never got beyond the planning phase. Hope you and Andy can get past the permit hassles and get it built…you will love it!

    • Jean says:

We’ll have to see. It could turn out to be a nightmare, but we’ll keep working on it anyway. We will share the adventure. πŸ˜€

  5. The OP Pack says:

All that paper work is nonsense. Mom and Dad just had to submit paperwork to add some rock landscape beds to our yard to help with the mudspots.
Seems kind of silly to us.

We hope you can get your project moving along soon.
