Poor Hungry, Cranky Zoe

Poor Zoe was on a restricted diet until Friday, when she could finally have her full ration of food, so she’s been ravenous and cranky. The crankiness is a good sign, of course, that sometimes happens to humans too when they’ve been sick and are starting to feel better.

She’s been picking fights with Tempi and has been avoiding Kaitlin and Torben a lot, but today there were signs of the old Zoe:

She and Tempi managed to have a quick romp around the yard before the folks had to stop it — no running for a couple more weeks, no long walks even until this Thursday. But at least she’s getting better.

  1. great and good to see back to old self…of course even we the humans get cranky when certain things are taking longer than we believe they should…I remember last year of the surgery and wanting desperately a week down the track wanting to be home, then got home and found “yes it was nice at home, but I couldn’t do much” that I wanted to do…

Catherine’s right. the hard work now starts! just slowly getting better each day.
and when you’re like Zoe … who really has only two speeds… Asleep or ON!
that is going to be hard for sure.
can you imagine going through what she just did and not being able to say how you’re feeling? or what happened? or even what’s next for me?
I’m glad she’s getting back to her self though now. she’s probably been so hungry for her normal food! and bed! hope you ALL can relax a little now! xoxo

They have some Trazodone to help calm her and make the confinement more tolerable. The vets say it’s safe, don’t worry about giving it when she needs it. And at least she’s home.

  3. I get cranky when I don’t get to eat. Sending healing vibs.

Thanks for the healing vibes. I’m guessing getting back to her regular amount of food is helping a lot. They cut down the amount for a while to make sure none of the food would come back up and get into the already compromised lungs. It’s the same reason people aren’t supposed to eat before surgery — it can be extremely dangerous.

I’m glad she’s getting better. Restricted diets make me cranky too

  5. Loved getting this good-new post. Our pets are members of our family and when they hurt, we hurt.
