Speaking of Evolution

I had seen his picture on their website and ignored it. I had walked right past him on the way in. I had made a beeline for the cats. But as I was leaving, there he was staring at me through the glass, and our eyes locked, and I instantly felt a connection.

This The Atlantic article explains that two ways dogs differ from wolves are (1) they have muscles around their eyes that lets them be expressive, and (2) they make eye contact with humans. Is it any wonder that dogs are thriving and wolves aren’t?

    I loved that article!
    found it really fascinating.
    I think dogs will eventually evolve to be able to communicate easily with us.
    not in our lifetime of course but in eons to come! look how far they’ve come already in a short time!

      Yes, he was irresistible. Years ago I went over to our local shelter every day to spend time with the animals to make them more adoptable. Learning basic commands was part of it, but the eye contact and smiling was at least as important.
