The quality of our lives depends on how we focus our energy and our attention.
That’s been one of my mantras for years, so I was tickled when I read this in Austin Kleon’s Keep Going.
Your attention is one of the most valuable things you possess, which is why everyone wants to steal it from you. First you must protect it, and then you must point it in the right direction.
As they say in the movies, “Careful where you point that thing!”
One of my favorite sayings now will be,
Be careful where you point that thing!

LOL. yes! and in today’s world very apropos! 😀
I would add maybe… first you must even HAVE attention!
I recently read that the attention span has shortened an amazing amount.
even in the last few years.
Do you find that’s true of you?
I must say my attention has never been that wonderful, even way before the internet was invented. I’m too easily distracted by what’s going on around me. My attention is only solid when it’s something I’m passionate about or very interested in.
I still can get thoroughly absorbed in my activities, which is a great way to avoid worrying.
sounds like part of my “attention” needs fixing….maybe I’m also “pointing it in the wrong direction” – now to explore more on that matter of which way is “right”
Sometimes it takes a while to figure out our direction, but it’s so powerful when we do.
I like that saying.
Thanks.
Good advice.
Thanks.
