They Lucked Out

Rain on Rabbit Mountain

Email from Andy yesterday afternoon:

I may be late. Heavy rains on Rabbit Mtn. and I hear chain sawing up there. 3:43

He figured he might have to stop to help clear trees off the road, but by the time he got there someone else had done it and had taken the pieces as firewood.

The weather was good most of the day up there, but around 2 they could see and hear the downpour on Rabbit Mountain and thought maybe it would affect the guys working. They were lucky — nothing happened before they left at 3, and it didn’t start pouring until Andy was leaving.

There are a few pictures on Flickr.

oh such good news! and good progress too.
and just look at all the green when you look to the mountains.
remember when it was so blackened and desolate from the fire?
    it seems like only yesterday!
now it’s gradually coming into its own. and it’s beautiful once again.
glad the neighbors took care of the fallen trees and got some wood out of it!
    xo

Yes, thanks to all the rain it’s exceptionally green up there. We love it, especially when it’s considerate and doesn’t come when they are trying to work. 😀

They did luck out with the rain.

  3. We have been having our share of storms with heavy rain and wicked winds. Seems to be a stormy one lately. Stay safe.

It always feels so good to get done just in time to miss the rain. I grew up in East Tennessee and we could hear the rain coming…for some reason I have sure been missing that.

We love rain here. Last year we were in the midst of a severe drought. This year we had a reprieve and the drought is completely gone, for a while at least. Fingers crossed.

  5. I love a nice downpour when I’m safe and sound indoors… particularly if there’s a good book on hand to enjoy.

  6. At your Flickr account – the first picture you see with album words and there is Jeans’ head in the wall…no body just her head!

good about the tree falling and someone else gathering up the pieces…

You’ve probably explained long ago, but why is it called Rabbit Mountain? Is it teeming with rabbits?

    • Jean says:

We assume that was the case when they named it. Rabbits come and go. A few years ago our place with teeming with rabbits, now we only occasionally see one or two.
