Doing the Best We Can

Doing the best we can with what we have left.

That’s been my fun saying for years now, and KB’s post today at Romping and Rolling in the Rockies points out R, her elderly, almost blind lab, is a great role model for that. He’s still an exuberant puppy at heart.

He loves to swim, but now his laryngeal paralysis means it could be dangerous — he could inhale water into his lungs. So the vet suggested a flotation device to keep his head up. When they put it on him the first time he didn’t hesitate — he took a flying leap into the water and had a blast.

He brings more meaning to the phrase “keep your chin up.” It’s all right to get some help! 😀

I might need to claim your saying…mine has always been we live till we die, one way or another. What is bad, is that staying started when I was fairly young.

That’s a great saying and after all isn’t that all we can really do. That R is an inspiration
