A Happy Ad

This email ad this morning put a smile on my face:

The email had links to relevant art supplies. Hurray for online art stores, hurray for mark making! I say mark making because I have little artistic talent, but I play with my art materials during the heat of the summer. It’s a mini retreat that feeds my soul and keeps me happy. It reminds me of Kurt Vonnegut:

Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow.

On the other hand, Blick is right. It’s fun to share it with others too, especially in this time of social isolation.

I need to get out more than just my sewing…I don’t have much artistic talent, but still it can be fun.

  2. How fun. I’ve had a couple neighbors who have put stuff in their yards to announce birthdays in their house

  3. The OP Pack says:

The grandson who lives in Texas turned 16 a few weeks ago. His parents had gigantic Happy 16th Birthday lettering on their front lawn and they surprised him with a parade of cars driven by his friends. It was fun to see the video they sent Mom and Dad.

  4. Isn’t is interesting how creative some businesses have been to make a buck during these hard times.

  5. what seems to have happened in New Zealand, is every retailer getting on the bandwagon of offering all kind of “specials” but not from this point of view, rather from – hey it’s all normal now, here is are reopening special OR now you can learn to do this, and we have a special just for you…

Whereas it appears that a hellva lot of people here are just saying “hey, I’m back at work OR going out to xyz, because it’s normal”

I still can’t understand how a few weeks ago the catch cry was “it will never be normal again…” And I’m thinking to myself “what did YOU learn” (not from making cakes or learning a new craft) but from an overall point of personal view…

anyway I did learn how to use more of the Golden Paint/addition products, so looking forward to doing some more…the rest of my “learning” is still WIP πŸ™‚

I like the quote and i practice singing and dancing and photography and you would not want to hear or see the singing/dancing but it is music to my ears. my boys used to beat on the bathroom door when i sang in the shower. every now and then i try so hard to draw and it is always bad…

That IS a wonderful ad. I love Dick Blick’s website. Now if I only had the moolah for everything I’d like to have. *haha* I’m not a fancy woman… don’t have fancy furniture or clothes or anything else for that matter… but I sure do love art supplies. πŸ™‚ Love, Andrea xoxo
