Another Checking-Out-the-Rule Story

This post was written in August, 2018. It again shows that Tempi understands rules can change, and that a rule under one set of circumstances doesn’t necessarily apply in another situation. It’s a good idea to check them out from time to time.

Tempi has changed a lot since we last saw her — she’s much more calm and pensive, more mature.

Thanks, Torben!

But her brain still works just fine. Apparently when Andy and I left Saturday evening she make sure she had Kaitlin’s eye and walked over to the couch, climbed up and sat down. She knew full well that it’s just the older folks who made that stupid rule no dogs on the couch, and we were gone.

Kaitlin told her to get down, but she wasn’t about to give in that easily. It was only when Kaitlin said, “Get down, NOW!” that she reluctantly gave in. What a stupid rule. You can’t blame a gal for trying.

  1. gotta know your “rulers” – I wonder if Tempi remember those rulers when she is next up at the land…

    • Jean says:

Yes, she remembers the rules even though she comes only once or twice a year. And the pups know when they are driving up to the land.

it must be hard figuring us all out!
    there’s a cartoon I love.
it’s two dogs meeting each other.
    one says to the other…
” hi! what’s Your name? mine is Stop That! Get Down! Shut UP! “

  3. Bruce Taylor says:

    No wonder they growl.

  4. Ginny Hartzler says:

Very smart! I bet that was hard for Kaitlin.

    • Jean says:

I don’t think it bothered Kaitlin because she was enforcing Andy’s rule. I’m a sucker for pups so wouldn’t do very well with one. I would be too easily manipulated.

That is so funny. Have I told you about our cat Bubbie. He was wanting us to let him outside and we were ignoring him. Then he came over ands out in front of Roger. I was watching him…he looked into Roger’s face, looked down at his feet, looked up at him…maybe meowed again. When Roger did nothing, he went over and nipped his foot! Not hard to bring blood or anyting…just enough to get his attention.

  6. Hootin' Anni says:

    I’m a sucker…she’s a doll…I would’ve let her stay.

  7. She is as smart as she is beautiful… when we add the NOW command, all our dogs did it. Even Big has to have a NOW remark once in a while.

  8. Myra Guca says:

Stupid rules, indeed! Tempi makes my heart smile.

  9. Gotta’ love that dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Gotta love a dog who tests the rules now and then. That’s just too funny
