Exciting Day

I’m still organizing and renaming pictures from Tuesday afternoon, and I’m uploading them to Flickr. More about them tomorrow.

This morning I attended a training session for the Zoom reunion next week. I’ve used Zoom before to listen to League of Women Voters forums for local political candidates, but this was the first time I’ve ever spoken and interacted with people.

I’ve blurred faces for privacy reasons, and I didn’t use a camera so the unblurred picture is my Zoom profile picture. Three of the other participants were in the West Coast, one was in the East Coast, and one was in Germany. How cool is that? I’m curious to see how many people will be at the reunion.

Then when Andy came home tonight he brought these pictures.

The deer clearly thought that was their land and seemed to be wondering why Andy was there.

  1. Nice herd of deer you’ve got there.

Glad the Zoom class went well.

Yes, they’ve been nibbling on the pussy willow and destroy young evergreens by rubbing the velvet off their antlers in the fall…unless Andy protects the trees with fences. Never a dull moment, but a lot more interesting than watching politics.

  2. how interesting it will be to see who comes to the zoom reunion – and where they are all now, what they’ve done or not done. How many are actually retired v those who couldn’t give up their careers.

lots of people assume that when you’ve ready to collect the pension that’s the day you stop working…but nowadays many are still striding out their front door and going about what they’ve always done…

and I can fully understand the wonderment of “what is this guy think he’s doing?”

    • Jean says:

Everyone is 80 or almost 80, so they’re all retired. Some of us have written what we’ve done the past ten years, and members of the committee have combined them and sent them to everyone.

These deer and fiery yellow trees are really gorgeous!!! We have a lot of meetings on Zoom, and really like it. Also Sunday church on Zoom. “Unmute yourself” is a comment heard so often that the group leader was given a t-shirt with that on it.

Love the concept of Zoom…glad it went well. Those deer images against a backdrop like that are extraordinary!

  5. Rose Swalls says:

Isnt technology fun? I just cannot imagine having so much of this as a kid.

Love Andy’s photos…love the deer and all the color.

    beautiful photos!

  7. Ann Thompson says:

I’ve never used zoom. It’s nice that no matter where everyone is they can attend the reunion through the magic of technology.
I like the photos of the deer. Not only is it nice to see the wildlife but the fall colors are beautiful

    • Jean says:

The group has had reunions before, but I’ve never wanted to travel to them. So zoom is great for me.

Yes, Andy scored on those pictures. 🙂

  8. The OP Pack says:

We think you are really going to enjoy that Zoom meeting – how fun to get together with all your friends.

We are sure Andy has no trouble sharing the land with the deer as long as they leave his plants alone.

    • Jean says:

Unfortunately the deer don’t. They’ve been nibbling on the pussy willow, and if Andy doesn’t protect the evergreens they destroy them by trying to rub the velvet off their antlers. They killed his pride and joy a couple of years ago…it was perfectly formed and taller than he was. It had survived because of all the dead trees and bushes on the ground. When Torben and Kaitlin worked hard to clear them out for fire protection the deer got it 🙁

  9. Myra Guca says:

I’ve only ‘Zoom-ed’ once or twice … not fond of having to fix my hair and make-up. (LOL) How good to learn a profile pix is an acceptable option!

  10. Cindi says:

So cool that you are going to do Zoom!
    How fun!
Love the deer, too funny and also sweet.
    xoxo

    • Jean says:

I’m really excited about the Zoom meetings. And the deer are fun, even if they can be a nuisance if you don’t protect plants. 🙂

  11. Bruce Taylor says:

It IS their land. You and Andy are just caretakers.
