so interesting. I knew I loved sea otters. but now I see how important they are!
I can’t imagine how they can eat the sea urchin though. it’s so spikey!
thank goodness for dedicated people like those in this clip and the previous post about Monterey Bay.
GO LITTLE OTTERS!!! XOXO
God made the star-hung skies for us,
And singing trees and hills and lakes.
Of course He made mosquitoes tooβ-
But everybody makes mistakes.

i had no idea about any of this. and I have always believed everything has a purpose, just some are really aggravating. the thing is, the world took care of itself until we got so many humans that interfere… plus otters are adorable
That’s fascinating. I knew nothing about sea otters, sea urchins, kelp and how the otters preserve the kelp. Or how much carbon the kelp absorbs. But as Tammy says, how on earth do the otters eat those spiky sea urchins?
The otters are way more valuable than anyone had thought.

Apparently sea urchins are delicacies: https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/the-delicacy-trailer-story-of-sea-urchins
This is very interesting. I always think everything has its purpose, even a mosquito. Which is probably to feed birds, etc.

We humans have been too successful as a species…we’re overrunning everything. But I’m not volunteering to leave early. Sigh…
