I love the fact that Blogger will let me put emojis in my comments. WordPress won’t. I’ve been using some basic smileys in WordPress: 🙂 😀 and 🙁 , but I decided to search to see what else it allows. In the following there isn’t a space between the text representing the smiley and the “to” because it I put a space there WordPress would show the smiley instead of the text. The text for smileys has to have a space before and after it to be interpreted.

I don’t know if any one else will find this useful, but I learned something today. 🙂

I’ve been on Bloggers for years and didn’t know we could use emojis. lol
I told you how I did it in a comment on your site. 🙂
This is great! I’ve taken to going to an emoji-specific website, then clipping and pasting, but that’s burdensome. This list is a keeper!
I was happy to find it too!
:oops
😳 I put a : after the :oops
Well, that didn’t work. Bummer. I make so many typos in comments since I use my smartphone’s tiny keyboard, I thought that was a perfect one for me to use.
😳 (trying again)
😀 Yay!
That is really very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. 🙂
I didn’t know this!
I didn’t know most of them, I’m glad I finally looked it up. 🙂
Well, I don’t have WordPress so I can’t make use of those. But it was a great leap forward for me when I discovered Alt codes. Like Alt + 0189 for ½ or Alt + 0233 for é. Very helpful indeed.
You could use them in comments to WordPress blogs if you wanted. Not everyone does.
The only one I ever seem to be able to remember is the first. I use it frequently in emails but I’ve never used it in a blog post. 🙂
They wouldn’t work in your posts, they’re WordPress, not Blogger. Blogger gives you a lot more choices if you wanted to use them. I wrote this post because some Blogger users try to use the emojis they’re familiar with in comments here. WordPress doesn’t understand them and just prints question marks. It’s a nuisance, but there it is. 🙁
I did not know this, I have windows 10, and use hit the windows key, the picture of windows lower left and then the period and it has hundreds to pick from ??? that is how I typed this. I do like emojis and all this stuff.
🙂 doesn’t work for me. this explains why sometimes i have comments that slow this and wondered what it was… there are way to type musical notes but I can never emember what does what. ? I just did this note by hitting ALT holding it down and type on number pad only 13… doesn’t work on top numbers
Unfortunately WordPress doesn’t understand and just displays question marks.
Looks like fun. : oops :
😳
got it
I did not know this…should save the page to have to refer to. I use the alt key + numbers for a lot of things. I had had the internet several years before I realized there was a lot I could do with them.
WordPress is very limited in what it can display. These smileys are better than nothing. 🙁
😀
😀
I don’t truly bother, although I suppose I should. And as wordpress (free site) has gone off on a tangent of it’s own of late, I just do what I can…
There’s no reason to use them if you don’t want to. I wrote the post for Blogger folks who try to put emojis in comments here in WordPress. Blogger gives users and commenters a lot more options.
Definitely interesting!
