Good for Andy!

Just about a year ago Andy ordered a brush cutter for maintaining our defensible space. It turned out the cutter wasn’t designed for high altitude, but it was still better than cutting by hand.

The company said we needed to install a high-altitude jet…we should take it to an authorized dealer. The closest one was in Albuquerque, a couple of hours away, but Andy brought it down and left it for the installation. Instead the fellow phoned a few days later saying the part didn’t exist, so Andy had to drive down and bring the cutter back.

I did some research…the part did exist but the part number wasn’t in the system. I made some phone calls and found a distributor who was willing to deal with the factory to find the part. She eventually did, so by the end of August we had it.

Between Covid and other things, making two trips to Albuquerque wasn’t high on Andy’s to do list, but a couple of week’s ago he found a local fix-it person who had no trouble installing it. Andy picked it up this morning. I emailed him asking how it was working and he answered,

It seems to. Started on third pull and sounded hopeful on 2 previous ones. He had tested it in the shop!!! Good man.

Good for the fellow being there, and good for Andy for finding him!

I was lucky to find Torrie, who was willing to talk to the factory and follow through. Most people wouldn’t have gone to the trouble.
