Stubbornness

The U.S. Government Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) ran an ad campaign to convince men to stop avoiding the doctor and get the recommended screening tests for cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and other illnesses.

This was one of their billboards:

ahrq.gov

Apparently not everyone agreed with that idea. I assume it was a guy who wielded the spray can.

    That is SO funny.
I have gone to the Dr. a total of under 20 times in my 62 year life span. I have never had surgery till I had cataract surgery a couple years ago.
I am woman hear me roar, I have no want for my life to be controlled by a doctor ,nor to take a plethora of pills that may or may not work for me or make me feel worse.
Thanks so much for caring so much for my health ahrq but I would rather keep my own money and health under my control…not the insurance companies nor the govt. who cares so very much for me. 😉

I’m glad that’s working for you. We like data and have good insurance, so we get the tests and make our own decisions. Our doctor is fine with that. She loves our healthy lifestyle.

    • B says:

Sure that is what I am saying. To each his own on healthcare and living.
The sign is right though and hope it saves a life or a million.

Now I know where Bud was when he disappeared the other day.

  3. Ann Thompson says:

LOL, that’s funny but unfortunately true also. Wade was horrible about going to the doctor

  4. Myra Guca says:

    That’s hilarious!

  5. Ginny Hartzler says:

Oh my gosh, that is kind of funny. But in all seriousness, this is a good and a truthful ad campaign. I hope it helps save some lives.

  6. I’m not keen on them either, doctors! But somehow ever since way back in 1970s I’ve had to for one thing or another. Once, I had no choice, I had gone to stay with my brother and he didn’t like the sound of my breathing, I popped into the local chemist and somehow they wouldn’t serve me, ended up my brothers doctor and then later when I got back home, my brother kept nagging me to see my own doctor! That was the start of having to have prescriptions

However, here in NZ the medical system has different layers…

  7. Another good laugh to start my day. Thanks.

I have an appointment in one more hour with the eye doctor to get my annual eye check-up and I do that Faithfully every year and my husband refuses he’s been to an eye doctor exactly four times in his hold 85 years

    • Jean says:

Andy goes every year and it turned out he has macular degeneration… he now has to go to Santa Fe periodically to get it treated. Fingers crossed for Bob.

  9. Rose says:

I saw this sign near here one year, and the next time had my camera, it was not there anymore….I was so disappointed.

  10. It’s an interesting billboard but they could have said more! I like the thoughts of the person who spray painted it.

  11. Cindi says:

    Some women too.
I never ever went to the doctor.
But when I suddenly had dramatic symptoms I had to go…
Now doctors are just part of my life.
