A Busy Day

Sunday I mentioned Kaitlin and Torben’s Thanksgiving trip in 2011, and that we stopped at the site on the way from the airport.

There was a lot of activity when we drove up the next day. Workers were preparing the site for the house and building the shed.

There are more pictures here on Flickr. and even more of just building the shed here.

It’s always fun watching the progress of a new construction.

I have never had anything built or even a re-model done, but have heard tales of how hard it it making choices.

I can almost smell the cold mountain air!
Love that picture of Torben atop the caterpillar!

Actually that wasn’t Torben. It was a worker trying to get cell phone reception. I can text Andy from down here and sometimes he can text back, but there’s no hope of talking over the phone. That’s why we have the Garmin tracker plus internet up there.

wonderful scenes of the making of a happy place.
all the blackened fire-charged giants standing sentry around the shed!
I would have thought they’d need to be removed. here they would have been bulldozed. they even bulldoze LIVE ones. it’s painful to me. but they’re allowed to do it. I suppose because of our tornadoes? who knows.
even without foliage I find them so beautiful. xoxo

We had them leave some of the trees because we didn’t have lightning protection for the shed. One of the trees did get struck, but not the shed.
