I was playing with my Nikon camera Christmas evening, to see how it handled low light situations. So Andy said there was something over at the skating rink I might enjoy seeing. He drove me over, and I expected it would be something connected with Christmas.
No, not Christmas. My immediate reaction was, “What the…? Andy drove into the parking lot and aimed our headlights on the truck while I snapped some pictures.
My Nikon did just fine.
How do you think the driver managed to do that?

Ice on the road? Or in his glass?
Andy says it might have been a bit slick, but why would they try to turn around there with the entrance to the parking lot so close? I’m guessing alcohol was involved.
Drunk at the wheel? That’s usually the cause of late night car crashes in Northern Ireland. And very often the driver is killed or seriously injured. Some people take idiotic risks and think they can get away with it.
I think this wasn’t dangerous because they would be going slowly, but what a shock.
Oh my gosh! I hope there were no serious injuries.
I think they were going slow enough.
“took their eyes off the road” and possibly the “steering wheel”!!!
Andy knew how much joy you would get photographing something unusual!
He not only drove me to see it, he aimed our headlights at the truck so I could get the pictures.
I hope no one was hurt!
I think they were going slow enough not to get hurt.
Who knows? DUI, texting, slick spot on the road? Maybe swerve to miss something/someone. You got great pics.
It looks as if the guy was trying to turn around and misjudged or slid.
Hmm, I wonder.
When I was 17 I had this car and the idle ran really high.. I would just turned it on and it would start moving and I told my dad about it. So apparently he fixed it but never told me and I took it to work that night and when I put it in reverse, I stepped on gas pedal and when I did it spun around and went backwards into ravine. I had to get towed out! So you never know!
Wait a minute, that doesn’t make sense, maybe the idle was low and he fixed it the other way. Jeez I can’t remember anything completely anymore! Blah.
But hey! that was very nice of Andy to take you out to get some good night unusual photos!
That must have been scary! In this case it looks as if no damage was done, just that the truck had to be towed out. Yes, it was really thoughtful of Andy. 🙂
When I see things like this, my first thought is drugs or alcohol.
Same here.
what fun to be had with your new camera and it and you did fantastic. not true for the driver of the truck, it could have been ice or drinking or just about anything that can happen. it looks like no damage was done and at daylight a tow truck can set it right. what a super surprise
Yes, thank goodness no serious damage. It was cleared away the next day or so.
Wow. Rock wall – 1, undercarriage – 0.
I’m guessing he overshot the parking lot entrance and decided a shortcut was in order. I’d love to know if you hear the REST of the story!
I doubt that we will find out. I agree that he probably missed the entrance to the parking lot.
