Don’t worry about all of the darkness in the world. Just light your own candle and move ahead.

    Good advice!!

  3. Hootin'+Anni says:

Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.” We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light the candle that can guide us thru that darkness to a safe and sane future.

    ~Chinese proverb

I thought of the first quote, but I’m not at all sure our candles can guide us to a safe and sane future. πŸ˜€ Just do the best we can, play our part well.

  7. Lovely! If only it were they easy to turn off the worry…

That’s one good response to anxiety. Another is to recognise all the many many initiatives that are going on to solve the world’s problems. Another is to say, I’m not responsible for all this darkness, so why should I worry about it?

  10. Catherine says:

I came to that realization a few weeks ago…all the experts, be it a proper or I know best types…we’re not in the page as me.
It was quite fast the relief, but still a way to go…”moving on”.

  11. Cindi says:

    I don’t find that comforting.
Hypocritical of me because I’m currently to insulate myself from all the darkness in this world.
Instead I’d like to be reminded that worrying won’t change a thing. It will only use up time that could be spent in a better way.
Or. maybe…. Ignore the darkness, sleep and be rested so that you can wake up and light your candle to burn that darkness down.

    • Jean says:

“…worrying won’t change a thing. It will only use up time that could be spent in a better way.” That’s basically what the quote is trying to say, I think. Don’t waste time worrying, figure out something constructive to do and focus on that. My version is “The quality of our lives depends on how we focus our energy and our attention.”
