It’s Not Over Yet

That’s great news that Beate and Tim’s cabin and shed are still there, but she points out there are still hot spots upwind of them so the danger isn’t over yet.

The National Weather Service has has issued a warning of extreme fire conditions across New Mexico:

A relentless period of strong winds and dangerous fire weather will exacerbate the fire threat. Widespread critical to extreme fire weather is likely on Saturday and Sunday, and possibly through Wednesday. Residents should remain on high alert to prevent fires, comply with all fire restrictions or fire bans, prepare an emergency “Go” bag, and be ready to heed any evacuation orders.

I’m not following the fire much right now because I’m doing projects on my Possibility List, including learning to use our new flip phones and developing an evacuation strategy in case it is needed. If anyone wants more detailed information this is the most recent update. Here are the videos of today’s operational update and the weather and fire behavior update, and one of a night team working on containing the fire.

It is good for you to have something else to think about.

    • Jean says:

Yes, the quality of our lives depends on how we focus our energy and our attention. Andy and I do pretty well about that.

I thought it was over, so sorry it is not. the fire fighter video is scary. we are seeing a lot of info about it on news, you are doing what i do when I get a new device. sit and poke it until I know it and even watch youtube about it if needed. I hope you have no need for the go bag, and prayers all the homes will make it through,

Stay alert to updates and occupy your mind on other things…good strategy.

  5. I’ve always regarded complacency as the enemy. These firefighters are owed an enormous debt of gratitude. Yours sound like excellent coping strategies.

Those firefighters are tremendous. We are extremely grateful and also to the people keeping us so well informed.

  6. Stay safe and alert! Keeping busy helps.
