An Old-Fashioned Thunderstorm

Usually I send text messages to Andy from my computer, but yesterday afternoon I sent him this one from my phone:

Rain thunder and power out

The power wasn’t out very long, it was back by the time he got home.

I also received this message from the county emergency management:

Large storm system in the area. Do not cross flooded roadways, stay inside, avoid travel if possible. Please do not call 9-1-1 unless there is an emergency.

I was happy to see the rain again, especially because I could watch it while safely inside.

We even had some sound effects. (I missed the closest, loudest, ones.)

It’s been a long time.

Also, I received this email from Kaitlin this morning:

on the plane

I will let you know when I have landed.

How cool is that! She’ll be here for the weekend, leave Monday morning. I will write about our visit then.

I am smiling as I watched the videos, the storms we get every afternoon rival the moive the Perfect Storm. They are violent, bolts hitting the ground, somes 257 strikes per second, i watched it do that. the winds are hard to stand up in. they put down 1 to 3 inches in 15 to 20 minutes. that is the good part. they don’t last long, although the first day of roofer it lasted 40 minutes. If driving we have to pull over, it sheets down the wind shield. Glad the two of you were safe and got needed rain. NOT good about he power.
